BCCH, BSE Advance in Baseball Regionals

RAMSEY -- Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick High School edged Ramsey 3-2 in the Class A Windsor Baseball Regional Monday.

The two squads scored a run each in the opening inning. BCCH took a 2-1 lead in the fourth but Ramsey tied in the top of the sixth. Auston Seaton drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth for BCCH.

Austin Rexroad and Jacob Kenter had two singles each for the winners while Hunter Seaton had a single and an RBI.

Jacob Kenter came on in the second inning due to an injury to starter Rexroad and went six innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out eight.

BCCH advances to face Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo moved into the second round with a 3-2 win over Patoka Monday in the Class 1A Altamont Regional.

BSE took a 1-0 lead in the second and then tallied two more in the fourth that would prove to be the game winner. Levi Maxey, Dalton Parks, Jacob Behrends, Drake Hall and Landon Feezel had a double each for the winners. Hall and Feezel had an RBI each.

BSE improved to 16-9 on the season and will take on North Clay (Louisville) at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

At Okaw Valley

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a 4-1 regular season victory over Okaw Valley Monday.

The lone run for Okaw Valley came in the sixth. Windsor-Stew/Stras held a 2-1 lead going into the seventh and tallied two more runs.

Brandon Helmuth had a single and double for the wnners while Christian Vonderheide had two singles and an RBI.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis blanked North Clay (Louisville) 8-0 in a regular season contest Monday.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back. The Shoes had 10 hits in the game led by Bobby Wenthe with a single, home run and one RBI. Alex Goldstein had a home run and three RBI while Darren Probst had a double.

Tommy Flach picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out five. He is now 2-0 on the season. Justin Kenter picked up the save. The Shoes are now 27-6 on the season.

North Clay drops to 19-9-1.

Newton handed Edwards County (Albion) a 4-2 loss in a regular season Little Illini Conference contest.

The Eagles stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead. Shull picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with four strikeouts. He also aided his own cause with a hit and an RBI.
