St. Anthony Drops Game to Mount Zion, Area Baseball Roundup

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham St. Anthony fellt to Mount Zion 6-3 in high school baseball action Thursday.

The Braves took a 3-0 lead in the second. Both teams scored single runs in the third and the Bulldogs pulled within 4-2 in the fourth. But Mount Zion came back with a two-run fifth.

St. Anthony had a five-hitter as Eli Dasenbrock and James Kabbes had a single and an RBI each.

The Braves improve to 16-7 on the season.

North Clay (Louisville) banged out 12 hits and scored 14 runs in a 14-1 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

The Cardinals sandwiched three runs in the first and third around an eight-run second. Britton had a single, double and three RBI while Bailey had a single and two doubles. Stinnett had two singles. North Clay improved to 18-6.

BCCH was led by Westen Giles with two singles and Austin Rexroad with a double.

Dieterich trailed Olney 2-1 after the first then fell to the Tigers 6-1 despite garnering one more hit.

A. Bohnhoff and J. Bohnhoff had two singles each for the Movin' Maroons. Traub had a single and an RBI.

Olney was led by E. Eagleson with a single, double and an RBI and R. Eagleson and Shan with a double each.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 12-2 win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Thursday.

W/SS took a 3-0 first inning lead and tallied three more in the third and had a five-run sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule. Ohnesorge was the winning pitcher on an eight-hitter with three strikeouts.

Helmuth had two singles and two RBI while Ohnesorge had three singles and an RBI and Deremiah two singles. The winners improve to 21-7 on the season.

Newton edged South Central 7-6. Tanner Shull pitched the win allowing six hits and striking out eight.

Jacob Lidy had two singles and two RBI while Brock Mammoser had two singles and an RBI and Mike Carr a single and two RBI.

South Central was led By Dylan Smith with a single, home run and two RBI and Tyler Ross with a home run and two RBI.

Neoga banged out 13 hits in the contest led by Jake Baker with a single, home run and five RBI, Tyler Romack with three singles and an RBI, Guy Walk with a single, double and an RBI and Trevor Easton with two doubles and three RBI.

The Indians improve to 15-6-1 on the season.

Cumberland claimed a Little Illini Conference victory over Casey-Westfield, 3-1.

The Pirates had only three hits compared to eight for Casey-Westfield. Kyle Swingler picked up the pitching win on an eight-hitter with five strikeouts. Swingler had two of the three hits for the Pirates with singles.
