FLORA -- Effingham St. Anthony High School bounced Flora to the tune of 13-2 in baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second then tacked on four more runs in the third. The game went all seven innings because the 10-run rule wasn't reached until the seventh.

St. Anthony banged out 12 hits and was aided by five Flora errors. Braden Puckett had a single, double and two RBI while James Kabbes had two singels and two RBI iand Neil Williams two singles and a double.

At Mount Vernon

Effingham High School ran into a tough Mount Vernon team in baseball competition Tuesday evening.

The Hearts fell 10-1 as Morgan picked up the pitching win for the Rams, throwing a three-hitter while striking out eight. EHS had nine errors.

The Rams tallied four runs in the fourth inning after taking a 1-0 lead in the first. The Hearts' lone run came in the top of the fifth. Mount Vernon had another four-run inning in the sixth.

Effingham's run came on a double by Adam Koester and a sacrifice fly by Lane Koenig.

Mount Vernon won a freshman/sophomore contest 12-2. Brent Beals picked up the pitching loss. Zac Bateman had a double while Caleb Martin had a home run and an RBI and Colby Utz a isngle and an RBI. EHS drops to 2-2.

At Brownstown

Neoga claimed a 7-2 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo. The Indians had two three-run innings in the first and sixth. Walk picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with six strikeouts.

Moore had two singles, a double and three RBI while Baker had a single, double and an RBI and Walk a single, double and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo were led by Flowers with three singles. The Bombers drop to 3-4 on the season.

Neoga improves to 4-0-1 on the season.

Teutopolis claimed a 10-2 victory over Sullivan. The Wooden Shoes tallied all of its runs in the first three innings.

Bobby Wenthe led T-town with a home run while Niemerg and Kenter banged out two singles and drove in a run each.

T-town is now a perfect 8-0 on the season.

North Clay (Louisville) edged Dieterich 2-1. The Cardinals tallied both runs in the fourth. Dieterich came back with a run in the fifth.

Dieterich outhit North Clay 9-3. Poe had three singles and an RBI while Traub and Shoemaker had two singles each.

North Clay was led by Cox, Bailey and VanDyke with a single each. Bailey had an RBI. McNeely pitched all seven innings with five strikeouts for the win.

Cumberland edged Tuscola 12-11 behind 16 hits Tuesday evening.

The Pirates led 8-6 after three then had a three-run fourth and tacked on a final run in the fifth. Tuscola came back with a five-run sixth but fell short.

Elwood led the winners with two singles, a double and triple while Kanizer had two singles and a double and Bauguess three singles.

Altamont pounded Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, ending the game in the fifth, 10-0 via the 10-run rule.

The Indians stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead. Altamont had 12 hits in the game led by Ziegler with a single and double, Cornett, Armstrong and Ricketts with two singles each, Winn with a triple and Wolff with a double and two RBI.

Borders picked the one-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.
