Mid-Illinois, Tri-Power Towing To Square Off For Junior Legion Title

Mid-Illinois and Tri-Power Towing picked up victories Tuesday evening at Community Park to advance to the championship game of the Junior Babe Ruth League Tournament.

Mid-Illinois edged Midland States Bank 4-3. Mid-Illinois trailed Midland States Bank 3-2 after four innings but knotted the score in the fifth and brought home the winning run in the sixth. Adam Koester pitched the four-hit victory.

Damian Rivera had a triple, while Evan Holt added a double and an RBI. Braydon Bone had a single and brought in three runs. Jacob Lorenz had two singles and a double for Midland States Bank while Cody Runde had a double and three RBI.

In the second contest, Tri-Power Towing beat Niemerg Construction 12-3. Tri-Power stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and was never seriously challenged. Carter Hayes had the big bat for Tri-Power with two singles, a double, two-run homer and four RBI. Drew Vasquez added a double and an RBI while Michael Wohltman had a triple and an RBI. Swayde Sanders led Niemerg with two triples and an RBI.

Mid-Illinois and Tri-Power Towing will meet tonight at 7 for the championship.
