Bourjos Has Big Game As Cards Fall

(Jupiter, FL) -- Lance Lynn allowed three runs in five innings as the Cardinals suffered a 6-5 loss to the Marlins yesterday in Jupiter. Peter Bourjos went 3-for-3 with an RBI while Kolten Wong was 2-for-3 and knocked in a run. The Cards host the Nationals today in Jupiter.

Cardinals outfielder Oscar Tavares will be getting more rest. While playing in a minor-league game on Monday, Tavares slipped on a wet part of the field and was favoring his right leg. Tavares had surgery on his ankle and then a hamstring injury in the leg.

Lake Homers But Cubs Lose To Angels Day Game

(Mesa, AZ) -- Junior Lake hit another homer but the Cubs allowed six runs in the ninth and lost 8-4 to the Angels Tuesday in Mesa. Tsuyoshi Wada allowed two runs in four innings in the start after signing a second minor league deal with the club on Monday.

In the nightcap of a pair of split-squad games Tuesday, the Cubs rallied for three runs in the ninth to earn a 5-5 tie with the Padres in Peoria. Ryan Sweeney went 2-for-3 while C.J. Edwards allowed three runs in less than three innings. The Cubs face the D'backs today in Scottsdale.

Sale Struggles In Final Spring Start

(Glendale, AZ)  --  Chris Sale allowed two runs on six hits in just 3 2/3 innings in his final spring start as the White Sox lost to the Rockies 4-1 Tuesday in Glendale. Chicago managed just three hits in the loss. The Sox play their final game in Glendale today against the Reds.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura is breaking up the three left-handers in his rotation. Chris Sale will take the ball on Opening Day and be followed by right-hander Felipe Paulino. Jose Quintana will be next, followed by Erik Johnson and John Danks.

The White Sox final roster is continuing to come into focus. Manager Robin Ventura has confirmed that Rule 5 pick Adrian Nieto will be the backup catcher behind Tyler Flowers. Nieto must remain on the 25-man roster all year, or be offered back to the Washington Nationals.
