Effingham Post 120 Wins Again in Senior Legion Division Tournament

Effingham Post 120 picked up its second victory in the Senior Legion Division Baseball Tournament at Pinckneyville. Post 120 edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead but Alton came back to lead 4-3 after four innings. Effingham then tallied two in the fifth and finished out with seven in the sixth for a 12-9 win.

Effingham showed its power with three home runs in the contest. Austin Hayes had three singles, a home run and drove in two runs. Nick Gardewine had a home run and two RBI, Mark Niebrugge had two singles and two RBI, Tyler Bushue had two singles, a home run and three RBI and Alec Quandt had two singles, a triple and an RBI.

Niebrugge picked up the pitching win, going six innings allowing six hits, four runs, six walks and striking out five. Quandt pitched two innings while Bushue picked up the final inning.

Effingham Post 120 returns to action today, facing Fairview Heights at 7 p.m. In other games Tuesday, Fairview Heights defeated Pinckneyville 5-4 and Murphysboro edged Aviston 4-3 in 10 innings.
