Bulldogs Down Olney, Baseball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Olney a 4-2 loss in baseball competition Monday.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 first inning lead then tacked on two more runs in the fourth. In the first, Neil Williams led off the game with a s ngle and Jacob Lorenz followed with a double. Eli Dasenbrock also had a single in the inning.

Olney's two runs came in the seventh. Alex Hoelscher picked up the pitching win allowing four walks and 10 strikeouts.

Leading the Bulldogs in hitting were Williams and Dasenbrock with two singles each and Austin Bushur and Lorenz with a double each.

At Effingham

At Dieterich

Dieterich edged Shelbyville 2-1 with the winning run scoring in the bottom of the eighth. The Movin' Maroons took a 1-0 lead in the second. Shelbyville tied the score in the top of the seventh and Dieterich won it in the eighth.

Bohnhoff picked up the pitching win. Traub had two singles and an RBI while A. Bohnhoff had a single.

At Dieterich

At Patoka

Brownstown/St. Elmo had a five-run third inning and went on for a 7-2 win over Patoka.

Both teams had five hits in the contest but Patoka finished with seven errors. Jacob Behrends picked up his first win going all seven innings, allowing two runs, five hits, two walks and striking out 14.

Five different players tallied a single each for the Bombers who improve to 2-1 on the season.

At Neoga

Neoga and North Clay (Louisville) played to a 6-6 tie. The Indians held a 4-1 lead after four innings but North Clay tallied five in the fifth. Neoga tied with two runs in the seventh and the game went two extra innings before it was called a tie as light ran out.

Neoga banged out 11 hits in the contest led by Kingery with a single, home run and an RBI, Romack with a single, home run and RBI, Olmstead with a single, home run and three RBI, Rankin with two singles and Walk with a double and an RBI. The Indians are now 2-0-1

North Clay was led by Byers with a double and two RBI.
