Austin Hayes Leads DACC To Victory

NORMAL -- Danville Area Community College baseball coach Tim Bunton reached a milestone when the Jaguars downed Heartland Community College Saturday 2-1 in baseball.

Bunton's career victories went to 500 wins and the leading hitter in guiding the Jaguars to the win Saturday was Effingham St. Anthony garduate Austin Hayes. Hayes hit a bases-loaded single in the fourth inning of Game 1 to give the Jaguars all the runs they needed. Nick Barrientos, Evan Block and Tyler Minogue had two hits apiece for the winners.

David Anderson picked up the pitching win to go 2-0 on the season while James Doubet got his first save.

In the second game, Hartland won 9-2. The Jaguars are now 2-2 on the season and will face Illinois Benedictine Wednesday.
