Rayburn Dean Miller, 90, of Altamont, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with Rev. Curtis Graves officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, rural Effingham. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.
Dean was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1923 in Beecher City, Illinois to Wilburn and Villa Lotchen McArdle. He married Norma E. Matheny on October 24, 1953 in Greenup, IL and she preceded him in death on August 1, 2001. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a spotwelder for Caterpillar, Decatur, IL. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Effingham, IL.
Dean is survived by his daughters, Peggy Miller of Effingham, Barbara Comer of Fairview, TN, his brother, Keith Miller and his wife Dorothy of Springfield, IL, his sisters, Audrey Miller and her husband Robert Wayne of Beecher City and Betty Lorton and her husband Raymond of Beecher City, IL, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Roland Miller.
