Linda ‘Lin’ Janz, 70, of Altamont, died at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Michael Kloepping officiating. Visitation will be for three hours prior to service time. Lin will be cremated per her wishes and burial will be at Zion Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Fund or the Donor’s Choice.

Lin was born on Thursday, September 30, 1943 in Bainbridge, IN, the daughter of Lee and Anna (Fox) Hartman. She married Rudy Janz on February 7, 1964 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effingham with Rev. Zimmerman officiating. She was employed in retail for many years including; Ken’s IGA, Altamont, Martin’s IGA, Wal-Mart, and Rural King, all of Effingham. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, member and past president of Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger V.F.W. Post #7676 Ladies Auxiliary, and active with the WELCA Quilting at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont and the Braille Center at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effingham.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy of Altamont, son, Jim Janz and his wife Susan of Altamont and grandson, Dustin Janz, granddaughter, Samantha Janz and mother, Anna Hartman of St. Elmo.
