William Arthur “Bill” Stewart, 91, of Greenup died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 with his wife and children at his side.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4 at 10:00 at Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday.  Burial with full military rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup.

He was born October 10, 1922 to Roy B. and Gladys Hickle Stewart.  He served in the Navy during WWII, and went on to marry Donna Marie Green in 1949; Saturday December 28th was their 64th wedding anniversary.  Bill was a life long resident of Cumberland County, as a horseman and farmer. He was a founding member of the Sportsman Club, as well as a charter member of the Greenup VFW. He was a firm believer in his children’s ability to accomplish anything, and his story telling along with patient fishing instruction will be greatly missed.

He is survived by wife Donna; daughter Deborah Tatum (Browder), of Italy, TX; Karen Stewart, Palawan Philippines; David Stewart (Cyma), Cincinnati, OH; William Stewart (Maria) of Charlotte, NC; and his surrogate daughter Jody Stewart of Charleston, IL.  He left behind eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, Donald Stewart and sister, Betty Quinn, both of Greenup, IL, and brother-in-law, W.L. "Red" Green, of Dallas, TX.

His parents and one sister, Ruby Wylde, preceded him in death.
