Donald D. Stewart, 78, of Katy, Texas, and a former longtime resident of Peoria and Neoga, IL, passed away Wednesday, March  21, 2012, in Katy, Texas.

Don was born April  2, 1933, in Neoga, IL, the son Nathan and Olive ( Ferris ) Stewart. On June 18, 1961, in Robinson, Ill., Don married Ann McQueen, his wife of 50 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Don is survived by his wife, Ann Stewart of Katy, TX; his children, Susan Stading and her husband Gary of Katy, Texas; Steven Stewart and his wife Julie of Terre Haute, Ind.; Donna Scott and her husband, Jeff of Aldie, VA.; two sisters, Shirley Flood and  husband John of Smithton, IL and Barbara Green and husband Lawrence of Trilla, IL; nine grandchildren, whom he adored, Jason, Jordan and Rachel Stading; Hannah, Charles and Jeremy Scott; Maxwell, Grant and Colin Stewart.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War between 1953 and 1955. He graduated from the Neoga High School and completed his education at Eastern Illinois University in 1958, and then began his twenty year career with Carson Pirie Scott. Don and Ann, lived and raised their family and worked in Peoria, Ill., for 41 years. Don retired from WEEK-TV in 1998 and spent the last 10 years of his retirement in Katy, Texas.

The family held a private service at the First United Methodist Church of Houston, Texas, on March 27, 2012, with Dr. Stephen Wende officiating.  A Military graveside service will be held at 1:00 P. M. Sunday, July 15, 2012, in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery of  Neoga, Il, conducted by the V.F.W. Post # 4325 of Mattoon, IL .

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions are directed to the American Heart Association Don Stewart Memorial Fund.
