Dorothy Irene Kaiser, 90, of Effingham, formerly of Edgewood, IL. passed away at 5:27 a.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehab Center in Effingham, IL.
Funeral Services is 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Harvest United Methodist Church in Edgewood with Pastor Jeff Morrison Officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to service. Memorials may be made to the family, Harvest Methodist Church or donor’s choice. Pagel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born on March 18, 1923 in Effingham County, the daughter of Samuel T and Margaret A. (Hoffman) Ripplinger.  She Married Paul (Dude) Kaiser in Elsberry, MO. on August 20, 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1962.
She was a postal clerk for several years and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors of Edgewood and Mason, Keen Agers and also a member of the Harvest Methodist Church.  She was a “Super Woman” by being widowed at the age of 39 with six kids to raise, survivor of cancer and of a brain aneurism and continued to take care of herself till dementia took over in 2011.  She enjoyed going dancing, eating out with friends and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her two daughters, D. Elaine Hatcher of Vicksburg, MS. , Kathy (husband Don) Quandt  of Farina, IL.; three sons, Paul (wife Pam) Kaiser of Bethany,IL.,  Lyndon (wife Teri) Kaiser of Edgewood, IL., Bart (wife Velvet) of Edgewood, IL., 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steve Kaiser; grandson, Matt Quandt and her sister, Vivian Matlock.
