Margaret M. Thornton, 97, of Neoga, IL and formerly of Charleston passed away at 7:47 PM on November 9, 2013 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday November 12th 2013 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery.
Margaret was born in Toledo, IL on June 5, 1916 the daughter of Jona & Edna (Thompson) Miller. She married Joe Thornton on January 29, 1986 and he preceded her in 2011.
Surviving is her son Richard wife Jean Ballinger of Toledo, IL; step daughter Eleanor Evans of Charleston; granddaughter Julie (Tom) Shuemaker of Toledo; step granddaughter Dona (Richard) King of Charleston; Great granddaughters Jessie Shuemaker of Charleston and Cassie (Adam) Flack of Mattoon; Step great grandchildren Amy (Greg) Crow of Livingston, TX and Scott (Deidra) King of Arlington, TX; Great -Great Granddaughter Layla Flack; Step great- great grandchildren Corinn and Addyson Crow, Maclain, Maddox and Myles King.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Don, George and Ronald Miller.
Margaret was a homemaker and retired from G.E. in Mattoon, IL. She loved traveling with her late husband Joe, spending winters in Florida, quilting and sewing. She was a member of the South Side Church of Christ in Mattoon, IL.
