Roland Smith, 75, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Don Wallace officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL. Memorials may be given to Effingham Assembly or Compassion International.
Roland was born on January 17, 1938 in Schenectady, NY. He served in the U.S. Army. Roland was retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) in New York, where he was a tractor-trailer driver for 33 years. He was a member of Effingham Assembly. He married Shirley D. Maxey on June 7, 1965 in New York. She died on August 2, 1996.
Roland is survived by his dear friend, Audrey Lucas of Findlay, IL; sons, Anthony Dahm and wife Kymberli of Chantilly, VA and Douglas Dahm and wife Melissa of Ashburn, VA; brother, Hal; sister, Janice; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Teresa Dahm and Brian and Tyler Dahm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Shirley.
