Rosemary Sowers, 89, of Effingham died at 12:47pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at First Christian Church, Effingham, with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Dieterich Cemetery in Dieterich. Services are under the care of Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham.

Rosemary was born on December 29, 1923, in Clay County, IL, the daughter of George and Mary (Galloway) Birch. She married Moris Delaine Sowers on March 15, 1946 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he survives.  She was a member of First Christian Church, Effingham.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Moris D. Sowers of Effingham; and daughter, Pamela (Dwight) Hazen of Bloomington, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Juanita Whitehurst, Lucille Graham, Esther Murriel Graham, Billie Scott, and an infant sister, Melba Mae.
