Dewain E. White, 90, of Kinmundy died at 4:15pm Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Doctors Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30, at 11am at Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11am Saturday. Burial in Elder Cemetery, rural Kinmundy. He was born March 3, 1922 in Marion County, the son of James Thomas White, Jr. and Ivy Butts White. He married Emma E. Banning on August 28, 1941 in Marion County and she preceded him in death on October 1, 2009. He worked for Egyptian Concrete of Salem for 31 years and farmed. He was a 50-year member of the labor union in Salem, a member of the Salem VFW Post, the Salem American Legion Post and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include one son, James R. White, Sr. and wife Jean of Iuka...one daughter, Deborah K. Atkinson of Salem...brothers, Pearl White of Kinmundy, Larry White and wife Lisa of Kinmundy, and Lowell White and wife Judy of Kinmundy...one sister, Bea Bingman of Kinmundy...sister-in-law, Karen Ingram...seven grandchildren...21 great-grandchildren...and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents...his wife Emma...daughter, Sandra Lea Loughary...son-in-law, James E. Atkinson...brothers, Lyle White and Verle White...sister, June White...one grandson and one great-grandson.
