Clifford W. Clagg, 94, of Newton passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Newton Rest Haven, Newton, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the West Lawn Cemetery, Newton with Pastor Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is in charge of the arrangements.
Clifford was born on April 11, 1919 in Piper City, Illinois, the son of James and Bertha (Bower) Clagg. Clifford served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII. On March 24, 1946, he married Ella Marie Sowers. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2008. Clifford was a retired farmer and a member of the Sandy Creek Christian Church.
Survivors include his son Earl Clagg of Effingham; daughter Linda Koester and husband Larry of Newton; grandsons Chad Koester and Kevin Koester both of Newton; and great-grandson Drake Koester.
His parents, wife Ella Marie, and brother Byard Clagg preceded him in death.
