Robert A. Van Dyke, 67, of Odessa, Florida, formerly of Clay County, Illinois  died at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Melech Hospice House in Tampa, Florida.

Graveside services will be held at Orchard Hill Cemetery Sunday, September 1 at 2 p.m. in Louisville, Illinois.  A memorial will be held at the Hord Community Center after the graveside service. Robert was born December 12, 1945 in Clay County, the son of Ward and Helen (Hall) Van Dyke. Robert graduated from North Clay High School, Eastern Illinois University, Oklahoma City University, and was an American MENSA member. He was a telecommunications broker, Van Dyke Telcom.

Survivors include his wife, Christine, of Odessa, FL; daughter, Christine Smith of O’Fallon, MO; granddaughters, Erin Aholt; Emily Aholt; grandson, David Lee Smith III; great-granddaughter, Serenity Fitzgerald of O’Fallon, MO; sister, Martha Deain of Effingham, IL;  brothers, Doug (Sabra) Van Dyke of Lewisville, IL; Monte (Susan) Van Dyke of Mason, IL and Mark (Marcia) Van Dyke of Naperville, IL;  nieces and nephews: Tamara Beck, Greenup, IL; Michelle Mueller, Jackson, Mo; Van Smith, Bethany, OK;  Ellen Birdsell, Bloomington, IL; Vince Van Dyke, Rinard, IL; Scott Van Dyke, O’Fallon, MO; Mona Perales, Laredo, TX; Kevin Van Dyke, Louisville, IL;  Kyle Van Dyke, Mason, IL; Christopher Van Dyke, Sugar Grove, IL; Phillip Van Dyke of Naperville, IL and several great-nieces andgreat- nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jean Baker.
