Lester Lee Horath, 74, of Effingham died at 8:05am Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Lee was born on March 9, 1939, in rural Dieterich, IL, the son of Lester C. and Edith J. (Gephart) Horath. He married Wanetta M. Arnold on January 8, 1966 in Effingham. They lived in Lockport, IL, until they retired and moved back to Effingham. Lee was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Lee is survived by his son, Michael Lee (Katie) Horath of Manteno; daughters, Melanie Marie (David) Shaw of Waterford, WI and LeaEtta Lynn (Eric) Hyer of McCordsville, IN; sister, Marilyn Wilson of Brazil, IN; brother, Clyde D. (Liz) Horath of Strasburg; ten grandchildren; and special friend, JoAnn Bernhard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanetta M. Horath; and sister, Maxine M. Bingham.
