Ruth Eileen Thompson, 85, of Cowden died at 1:45pm Monday, June 18, 2012 at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Eileen was born June 12, 1927 in Cowden the daughter of Leverett and Eva Cihak Pettyjohn.
She married Walter Franklin Thompson May 17, 1946 in Pocahontas, AK and he passed away May 18, 1998. Eileen was, first and foremost, a homemaker for her Family. She, and friend Sally Evans operated a vending machine route in the 1950's and 60's and then she worked at Little Fuse Co. in Tuscola, IL for 10 years. Later, she worked at RI Plastics Co. near Tower Hill, IL and thoroughly loved working there with all her grandchildren. She loved music, especially bluegrass, enjoyed camping and playing card and board games with family and friends.
Surviving are her children: Anna Seely and husband Mark of Cowden, IL, Nola Black of St. Elmo, IL, Alan Thompson and wife Marilyn of Tower Hill, IL, Barry Thompson and wife Jean of Shelbyville and daughter–in-law Karon Thompson of Cowden; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great- grandchildren; brother Lyle Pettyjohn and wife Daisy of Cowden; sister: Nola Bessie Klepzig of Crawfordsville, IN.
Ruth was preceded in death by here husband Walter, parents, brothers: Donald Pettyjohn and (in infancy) Ralph Pettyjohn and sisters: Hazel Weidman and Maurine Kiefling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday June 22, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden. Pastor Steve Neville will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
