Glen Benton Brasel, age 105, of Kinmundy, IL, passed away at 7:29 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Twin Willows Nursing Home in Salem, IL.

Glen was born Wednesday, December 11, 1907 in Kinmundy, IL.  He was the son of the late Harry B. Brasel and the late Ada (Gray) Brasel. His mother passed away when he was 3 months old and he was then raised by his Aunt Dovey and Uncle Owen George.  On December 3, 1928, he married Dola Chasteen in Kinmundy, IL at the Kinmundy First United Methodist Church Parsonage.  She preceded him in death on June 25, 1991. He was employed by United State Postal Office as a rural postal carrier and was also self employed as a farmer.  He was a member of Kinmundy First United Methodist Church and a 82-year member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge #398 AF & AM and a 32 degree Mason.

Surviving are sons, Denton Glen Brasel, Sr. and wife Judith of Kinmundy, IL, James Brasel and wife Nancy, of Saint Elmo, IL; daughters, Nellie Hiestand and husband Sam, of Salem, IL, Linda Robb and husband Maurice of Kinmundy, IL, Clara Deadmond of Altamont, IL; 18 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 52 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Burdette Brasel; sisters, Edith Brasel, Hazel Sebens, Virgie Metcalf and Mellie Tanner; daughter-in-law Nelly Brasel; son-in-law Richard Deadmond; granddaughter June Bookhout; and great grandsons Perry Schade and Christopher Brasel.

Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 7, 2013.  Funeral service will be at Kinmundy First United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, Monday, July 8, 2013.  Masonic rites will be held prior to the service at 10:45 am, also at the church. Interment will be in Gray Cemetery, Rural Kinmundy, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kinmundy First United Methodist Church or the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge #398 and will be received at the funeral home.
