Marion Lane Allison (70) of Yale

Marion Lane Allison, 70, of Yale passed away at 3:26 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday June 23, 2013 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial with full military rites will be in the Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, IL.
Marion was born on February 15, 1943 in Robinson, IL, the son of Elza Jr. & Ilene (LeMay) Allison.
Surviving are brothers Marvin (Martha) Allison of Newton, IL and Melvin (Susan) Allison of Willow Hill, IL; Sisters Janice (Jerry) Tharp of Yale, IL and Gay (Randy) Bierman of Hidalgo, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marion’s first job was working at Allison’s Texaco station. He retired from farming and was a rural mail carrier for over 35 years in the Hidalgo and Rose Hill areas. Marion enjoyed bird hunting and fishing, but his best joy was being a grandfather figure to many of his nieces and nephews. Marion served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
