James R. Stanley (65) of Wheeler

James R. Stanley age 65, of Wheeler, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home.

A memorial visitation will be held in honor of James from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois. Memorial gifts in honor of James may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.

James was born at his homeplace near the river bottoms of Clay City, Illinois. He was the son of Betty R. Stanley. On June 29, 1985, James married Macel Leona Bickers. She survives. James worked in maintenance and served as mechanic for the Newton Brown Company in Newton. In his free time, James enjoyed fishing and sitting with his dogs. He liked to take the dogs on truck rides to Sam Parr. In earlier years, he enjoyed deer hunting and camping.

James will be loved and remembered by his wife Macel Stanley of Wheeler; step-children Jason Roy Jourdan of Mississippi and Nikki Hall, husband Jacob of Newton; three grand daughters Brenna Camile Jourdan, Taylor Leann Culter and Dakota Lyn Culter; brother Kevin Lyn Stanley, wife Gail of West Liberty and sister Elizabeth Jones of Noble and mother-in-law Janet Leona Bickers of Wheeler.

His mother, two infant siblings and his favorite dog, Max preceded him in death.
