Wilburn Lee Webb, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Effingham, IL on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the age of 84.

Born in Watson Township on August 8, 1938, to Charles Edgar and Ida Mae (Livingston) Webb. On August 26, 1962, Lee married Gretta Darlene Boswell at the First United Pentecostal Church in Effingham, IL.

At a young age on the family farm, he developed a love for working with his hands. He later combined farming with a 48-year career in truck driving, retiring from ABF in 2004. Lee was known for his unwavering work ethic. Some common phrases he lived by were, “You’re burning daylight” and “You don’t quit when you tired. You quit when you are done.”

Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Darlene, their two children: Julia Awalt of Charleston, IL, and Donna and (James) Wurl of Lebanon, MO; four grandchildren: Joshua and (Katie) Awalt, and Jessica and (Antonio) Seba of Charleston, IL, Jennifer Wurl and Seth McBride of Phillipsburg, MO, Andrea and (Cory) Woolsey of Conway, MO; 7 great grandchildren: Elijah, Lincoln, Lucy, Wesley, Maverick, Nora, and Isaiah, with one due to arrive in November. He also leaves behind three siblings, Elizabeth and (Ray) Schultz of Dieterich, IL, Edgar and (Brigitte) Webb of Colorado Springs, CO, and Thomas Earl and (Janice) Webb of Effingham, IL, along with numerous family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and his infant son Gregory Lee Webb.

A visitation will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Neoga Memorial Cemetery.
