Morris "Billy" Delano Wharton (81) of Mason

Morris “Billy” Delano Wharton, age 81, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 8:41 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with graveside service to follow at Mahon Cemetery in rural Edgewood. Kent Robinson will be officiating. Morris was born on August 8, 1941 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Raleigh E. and Esta Pearl (Siddens) Wharton. He married Karen Sawyer on August 19, 1962 in St. Elmo, Illinois. He was a member of the past Fox Hunter’s Association. He enjoyed running his dogs and working on his farm. He dearly loved his family, his dogs and the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Wharton of Mason; son, Shawn Wharton (wife Laura) of Mason; daughters, Brooke Wharton of Effingham and Nikki Quandt (husband Chris) of Effingham; brother, Gene Wharton of Altamont; sister, Doris Stock of Decatur; eight grandchildren, Brent Miller, Ashley Wharton, Colin Miller, Devan Quandt, Ali Wharton, Braeden “Jake” Quandt, Peyton Quandt, Sophia Seagle and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Holste and Lucas Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Esta Pearl Wharton; brother-in-law, Maurice Stock, and sister-in-law, Harriett Wharton.
