Melvin Kepley Stanley, 95, of Noble and formerly of Ingraham passed away at 8:50 am Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his home in Noble.

Melvin was born on March 12, 1928, in Ingraham, Illinois the son of Harvey and Cleda (Kepley) Stanley. He married Helen Michels on January 17, 1949, and they shared 47 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on October 8, 1996. He later spent a time with a special friend, Ruby Griffith, who also preceded him in death in 2020. Melvin worked for Caterpillar in Mossville in maintenance, then at the age of 52 he retired. He loved to talk with his buddies on his Ham radio and Morse code. Melvin built two houses throughout his life, he also enjoyed welding. In his free time, he spent his hours on his computer logging his daily life. Melvin had attended the Antioch Christian Church, and was a member of the Ingraham Baptist Church.

Melvin is survived by a daughter: Elaine Ducamp of Galesburg, Illinois; 2 daughters-in-law: Tammie Stanley of Missouri, Tina Stanley of Illinois; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 step great great grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Terry Wayne Stanley, Melvin Stanley, Jr., John Kepley Stanley; 1 grandson; brother: Wayne Stanley.

Funeral services to celebrate Melvin’s life will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Ron Payne and Mike Baker officiating. Burial will follow at the Ingraham Cemetery, Ingraham, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning at the funeral home where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Melvin’s memory to the Antioch Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
