David Michael Ragan, age 67, of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Effingham, IL, passed away at 6:33 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Willowbrook Memory Care in Vandalia, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham with Rev. Mike Burdick officiating, and will be live streamed on YouTube at the “St. John’s Lutheran Effingham IL” YouTube Channel. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Strasburg at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday, all at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Dave was born on August 7, 1955 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Robert and Myra (Engel) Ragan. He married Rebecca “Becky” (Grunloh) Repking on November 28, 1987 at St. Paul Blue Point Lutheran Church in Altamont. Dave had a smile for everyone he met. Dave loved and was proud of all his grandchildren. Dave so enjoyed his work as a real estate appraiser and he gained a second family of co-workers at Farm Credit prior to his retirement. Dave was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and proudly served as an Elder and a church officer. He was also proud to have served as a board member of the Lutheran Care Center. He collected carved ducks and was an avid John Deere lover.

Dave is survived by his wife, Becky Ragan of St. Charles, MO; step-sons, Douglas Repking (Jennifer) of Effingham, and Kevin Repking (Marilou) of Baliuag, Philippines; step-daughter, Angela Steineman (Daniel) of St. Charles, MO; step-grandchildren, McKenna Steineman, Aidan Steineman, Abigail Repking, Allison Repking, Ashleigh Thompson, Khyle Repking, Kim Repking, and Kaitlyn Repking; sister, Pamela Storm (Leonard) of Stuart, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Myra Ragan.
