Charlott Ann Brauer, nee Waggener, 95, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, with her family by her side.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Lutheran Care Center Chapel, Altamont, IL, with the Rev. Dr. James Wright officiating. Visitation will be at the Lutheran Care Center Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, and one hour before the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials: Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Care Center or donor's choice.

Charlott, daughter of Evan and Martha Waggener, was born August 5, 1927 in St. Louis, MO. She was raised in Herrin, Illinois, attended Herrin High School, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in the class of 1949, majoring Speech and Theater. While attending school, she acted in numerous theatrical productions. She began a 30-year career in education, spending the last 28 years in Altamont Community High School teaching English, Speech, and serving as Unit Librarian. Her passion for theater led to her directing many plays and musicals at the school and in the community. She loved collecting dolls and shared that knowledge in public speaking engagements throughout Effingham and neighboring counties.

She married Kenneth Paul Brauer on Nov. 7, 1954, in the Presbyterian Church, Herrin, Illinois. After marriage she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont and became an active member serving in the LWML and Altar Guild.

Surviving are her sons, Tim (Sue) Brauer of Evansville, IN; Mark (Trenna) Brauer of Sun City, AZ; grandson, Nic (Kendra) Brauer of Evansville, IN; granddaughters, Jenna Brauer of Bloomington, IN and Kaycie Brauer of Chandler, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken, and her sister Garcia Hancock.
