Robert Seaman, 91, of O’Fallon, MO, formerly of Altamont, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital, St. Charles, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with visitation for one hour prior to service time. Pastor Gene Creek officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with military rites by GiesekingSchwerdtfeger V.F.W. Post #7676, Altamont. A Masonic service will be held at 4:45 p.m., on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with a visitation to follow from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Altamont or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Robert J. Seaman was born on Thursday, October 15, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to Rudy and Beatrice (Rider) Seaman Rankin. After his father’s death he was raised by his mother and stepfather, John Rankin. He married Charlotte Nations on May 8, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Altamont with Reverend Sharp officiating. He was employed at McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis, as a senior test engineer. He was a veteran of the Navy Air Corps during the Korean War. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger V.F.W. Post #7676 and the Masonic Lodge #533.

In addition to his wife of over 68 years, he is survived by; his son, Dr. Robert J. (Bennette) Seaman, Jr., Edgerton, KS; daughters, Rebecca Speno, O’Fallon, MO and Susan (Johnny) Russo, O’Fallon, MO; sister, Joy (Gary) Edwards, Altamont; brother-in-law, Dick Francis, Altamont; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews,

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John ‘Butch’ Rankin, Jr.; sister, Joanne Francis; and grandson, Frankie Speno.
