Chad was born on July 29, 1973, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Dale and Betty Jean (Miller) Nelson. He graduated from Effingham High School in 1992 and Lake Land College in 1994. He married Angie Lueken in 2004, and in 2007, their family became complete with the birth of their triplets Katelyn, Alex, and Sydney. He was employed as a CNC Machine Operator for many years, first at Nova Solutions in Effingham, and later at Stevens Industries in Teutopolis.

Chad loved spending time outdoors. His favorite place to be was outside on the back deck or hanging out on the neighbors’ patio surrounded by family and friends. He was his kids’ biggest fan, always attending their events and activities, and helping out as a coach or a Band Dad. He was so proud of everything his kids accomplished. He had a big heart, never knew a stranger, and would drop everything to help anyone who needed it. Chad loved animals, the house was always loud with the sounds of his beloved pets Bandit and Loki, and Jasper and Molly. He loved sports, especially football, and was an original founding member of his friends’ fantasy football league. Every Sunday in the fall you could find him in front of the TV rooting for his team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Chad is survived by his wife, Angie; children, Alex and Sydney; father, Dale Nelson; mother, Betty (Mike) Carter; brother, Todd Nelson; parents-in-law, Mark and Judy Lueken; brothers-in-law, Greg (Michelle) Lueken, and Matt (Chris) Lueken; nephew, Avery Lueken; and niece, Hannah Lueken.

Chad was preceded in death by his daughter, Katelyn Elizabeth; and infant sister, Tracy Lynn Nelson.
