Gailerd Clifford Workmann (95) of rural Altamont

Gailerd Clifford Workmann, 95, of rural Beecher City, Illinois went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday January 24, 2023, at 5:35 AM at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham, Illinois, where he was a resident for a short time.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until the funeral services with Rev. Paul Jones to be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, Illinois. Military burial rites will be held at the Beecher City Cemetery following the funeral services.

Gailerd was born to Everett and Ollie-Grames-Workman. on March 27, 1927, at home in Beecher City, Illinois. He proudly served his country by serving in the US Army during WWII. He married Dolores J. Pippen; they had six children. Gailerd served as Loudon township road commissioner and retired as Fayette County Highway foreman.

A few things he enjoyed in his spare time were operating his bulldozers, playing checkers, welding, and fishing, especially in Texas, After retirement, he thoroughly mowing for Summit Township and visiting with friends at the Whistle Stop Saloon in Altamont.

Gailerd is survived by his children, Mimi (Danny Simmons) Mays, Pam Dammerman, Joe (Pam) Workman, Kris (Wayne) Diewald, and Mark Workman. One nephew, William Workman, and many grand and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Donald and Duane Workman and young son Jimmie Duane Workman.

Memorials may be directed toward the Meals on Wheels Program and or the choice of the donor.
