Glen D. Holsapple, age 96, of Rose Hill, Illinois, passed away at 4:01 PM Monday, January 23, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
Funeral celebrating Glen’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Keith Kepley officiating. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois, with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. Glen was born on March 19, 1926, in Cumberland County, Illinois, the son of Leo Golden Holsapple and Marie (Gabel) Holsapple. He married Wilma Pauline Kerster on January 5, 1951, in West Salem, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2006. Glen was a lifelong farmer. He also drove a school bus for 14 years, for the Jasper County Unit #1. Glen served his country in the United States Army from November 18, 1952, until his honorable discharge on September 24, 1954. Glen enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and mowing the yard and visiting with family and friends. He was an animal lover, especially dogs and cats.
Glen is survived by: Children – Gary Holsapple of Olney, Illinois; Theresa Holsapple of West Salem, Illinois; and Thomas (Jacque) Holsapple of Rose Hill, Illinois Granddaughters – Cami and Cindy.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughters Shirley Holsapple and Marie Ann Holsapple and a sister Kathryn Rogene Foreman.
