Bonnie K. Finn age 72, of Newton passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Bonnie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Jeffries officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Illinois. Bonnie was born on June 17, 1950, in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Francis “Bud” and Ernestine E. “Teenie” (Benefiel) Hall. On June 7, 1970, Bonnie married James R. Finn.

In addition to being a wife and mother, Bonnie was a lady of many talents. For many years, she was the owner and stylist of Bonnie’s Beauty Shop in Newton. She also served as the secretary for the Grace United Methodist Church, beginning in the late 1970’s until the present. She met everyone coming in the office door with a smile and an answer to their need. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her church family.

She was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Women’s Bowling Association, the Tuesday Night Ladies’ League, serving as league secretary and the Jasper County Artisans.

Bonnie loved sewing, quilting and hand crafts. Through the years, she has crocheted numerous afghans and has made hundreds of quilts. She later expanded her sewing hobby into Bonnie’s Sweat Shop where she created custom sweat shirts, embroidery items and memorial keepsakes.   She loved attending the annual quilt shows and taking quilt classes. She also enjoyed shopping, attending flea markets and watching QVC.  

She will be loved and remembered by her husband of fifty-one years James R. “Jim” Finn of Newton; sons Craig Finn, wife Michelle of Beebe, AR and Cory Finn of New Brunswick, NJ; three grandchildren Keller Finn and Cameron Finn both of Jacksonville, IL and Brody Finn of Beebe, AR and sister Becky Groves of Dieterich.

Her parents, infant son Chad Finn and brother William L. “Bill” Hall preceded her in death.
