Mary Jo Mette was born on February 2, 1954 to Ralph and Deloris Thoele at St Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham. After she graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1972, she went on to major in business in Champaign.
After graduating with a degree in business she managed a business office. She found her love in caring for others and worked in healthcare for 30 years. She also received her degree from the University of Illinois in the Master Gardener’s program. This brought her so much joy.
In 1973, Mary Jo met Dave and it was love at first sight. Mary Jo and Dave went on to have two beautiful children, Ellissa and Jeremy.
She lived a beautiful life and spent her free time with her loved ones, biking, hiking, spending time outdoors enjoying God’s creations and traveling. The ocean was one of her favorite places to travel. She had a love for life that was felt by everyone that met her. She loved to help others, and when asked to do a favor by anyone, she always said, 'sure what do you need'.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Dave; her daughter, Ellissa (Edric) Schwartz, grandchildren, Graham, Breckin, and Everett; her son, Jeremy (Sarah) Mette, grandchildren, McKenna and Tucker; and her five brothers and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Luann.
