Alan Pike, 60, of Charleston, formerly of Effingham, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to the time of service, Thursday at the funeral home.
Alan was born March 18, 1962 in Effingham, the son of Mary Beth (Thoele) and Arthur Pike. Alan attended and graduated from St. Anthony schools and Eastern Illinois University. He worked in the finance and banking industry for many years, mostly in the St. Louis area, and eventually returned to Eastern Illinois University, holding various positions within the food services department.
In later years, Alan chose to live a simple life. He enjoyed being at home, watching baseball and documentaries, spending time talking with family and friends and was always available to help when in need on a problem or project. Many challenges came Alan’s way in life and he navigated them with much resilience and resolve. For those who knew him, he was practical, candid and a fierce defender of those he held close to him, and he appreciated those traits in others.
Alan is survived by his father, Art; brothers, Doug (Khwan) and Todd (Cindy), all of Effingham and brother, Matt (Erica) of Mahomet; nieces and nephews, Andy (Julia) Pike of Louisville, Kentucky, Carrie (Lee) Pardue of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Rachael Glenn of Affton, Missouri, Juliana and Hudson Pike of Mahomet; aunts, Doris Niemeyer of Raleigh, North Carolina and Esther Feldhake of Effingham, in addition to many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Beth, and numerous cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.
