Larry Thomas Lidy, 78, of Teutopolis, IL, formerly of Sherman, TX, died Sunday, June 12, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice. Larry was born on January 14, 1944, in Hammond, IN, the son of Louis and Ruby (Bushue) Lidy. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from October 20, 1966 to October 13, 1968 in the 9th Division Infantry – Hell on Wheels. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal. Larry was an over-the-road truck driver. He worked for Anderson Clayton Company for many years. He then went to Kraft Foods and finally retired from Central Freight. Larry lived in Sherman, TX for 50 years before moving home for health reasons. He loved people and socializing. He enjoyed his coffee friends and eating at the Kountry Kitchen. His pride and joy was his green 2002 pickup truck. His hobby was playing the lottery. He was a kind, friendly, and fun-loving person.

Larry is survived by his sisters, Janice (Charles) Heuerman and Kathy (Mike) Thoele; brother-in-law, Larry Pruemer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Patricia Pruemer and Glenda Hartke.
