Edward Franklin Witt, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Herrick, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at First Christian Church, Herrick, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the church, with Masonic Rites following the visitation. Casual attire is requested. Burial with military rites will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, IL. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Herrick. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Ed was born on September 30, 1930 in Shelby County, IL, the son of George and Maud (Sallee) Witt. He graduated from Herrick High School in 1948. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Lena B. Chandler on May 18, 1952, and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2015. Ed farmed near Herrick, worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville, and then served as Postmaster of the Herrick Post Office at the time of his retirement. Ed was a member of the First Christian Church in Herrick, Sarver-Guthrie American Legion Post #839 and a 70 year member of Clover Leaf Masonic Lodge #990. He was an avid woodworker.

Ed is survived by his son, Scott Witt of Pawnee, IL; daughter, Susan Berryman and fiancé Gerard Hastings of Shelbyville, IL; daughter-in-law, Kim Witt of Girard, IL; brother-in-law, Dean Chandler and wife Teresa of Herrick, IL; grandchildren, Jared Berryman and wife Jennifer, Savanna Cline and husband Jack, Ashlee Johnston and husband Jesse, Ashton Ballinger and husband Ethan, Tiffany Griffith and husband Aaron, Quinton Witt and wife April, Duston Witt and Michelle, and Jaquina WilliamsWitt; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lena; son-in-law, Paul Berryman; and nephew Doug Chandler.
