Ruth Agnes Hoene, age 92, passed away peacefully at her Effingham home on May 13.  Ruth was born May 7, 1930 in Teutopolis to Gertrude and Frank Pruemer.  Ruth married John Hoene on May 11, 1949.  Together they raised 6 children on the family farm in rural Sigel:  Thomas, Joseph (Jeanne), Kenneth (Dawn), Mary Rose (Art), Paul (Martha) and Mark (Joyce).  Her remaining siblings are Larry Pruemer, Norma Jean Apke, (Alice Pruemer) and Mary Ellen (John) Kremer.

Ruth had a heart for helping, volunteering, cooking for family, and praying.  She was a continual spark of energy and always easy to visit with.  She loved her 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren dearly.

Ruth was passionate about her Catholic faith, Cards, Family, Fishing, and accommodating others.  In the spring, she delighted in frying fresh mushrooms, in the summer, she fried the amazing fish that she and John had caught on their many fishing adventures during retirement years.  She Gardened and Volunteered at Catholic Charities and at Sigel St. Michael.  Her card games were legendary.  One can say "she won all the marbles" at her last card game the week prior to her passing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband John, her Parents, Gertrude and Frank, Son, Thomas, Grandson, Tyler, Siblings & their Spouses, Dorothy (Harry) Schumacher, Lorraine (Tom) Althoff, Lawrence Apke, Joe (Rosella) Pruemer, Bernard Pruemer, and Arthur Pruemer.

Her memory will live in her examples of hard work ethic, her Passion for her family, her devotion to Prayer for others, and her Beautiful Common sense.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Michael School New Building Fund.

A Celebration of her life will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, Tuesday, May 17th.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, with a Mass Of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.  Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel.

The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.
