Randy was born August 9, 1965, in Olney, the son of Everett F. and Marie (Bullard) Hockman. On August 27, 1988, he married Cindy J. Young during a ceremony at Faith Lutheran Church in Flora, and together they have been blessed with sharing 33 years of enduring faith and family in their marriage.
Randy loved the outdoors, especially tending to his property, raising cattle, and helping his friends and neighbors. He was an especially proud dad and grandpa, appreciating every single day spent with those he loved most. His interest in supporting youth led him to help form Little Wolves Basketball, volunteer as a junior varsity coach, and serve on the Flora school board, including as president. After studying civil engineering, Randy was employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 30 years, and he was recognized for his work in 2015 as Technician of the Year. He retired in 2020. Randy was an avid UK basketball fan, and he dedicated his life foremost to his faith in Christ, serving as a past elder and teaching Sunday school at Salem Lutheran Church.
Randy is survived by his wife: Cindy Hockman of Xenia; son and daughter: Dirk (Erica) Hockman of Xenia and Bali Hockman (fiancé Michael Thies) of Xenia; granddaughters: Bryndle and Caroline; mother: Marie Hockman of Flora; and brother: Scott (Sandy) Hockman of Mahomet.
He was preceded in passing by his father: Everett Hockman.
