Valerie Ann Light, 49 of Teutopolis, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Catholic Charities or Cumberland County Veteran’s Monument. Valerie was born April 7, 1972 in Effingham, the daughter of Robert and Linda (Tegeler) Campbell. She married Shawn Light on January 13, 1990. Valerie loved spending time with her grandchildren and would do anything for anyone. She was an avid baker, card player, and bingo goer. Valerie would spend her summers playing softball with her sisters, daughter, and nieces, watching her grandchildren’s ball games, and going fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She was like a mother to the Effingham Bravo Company and was an active member in the Catholic Daughters of America. Valerie couldn’t go anywhere without seeing someone she knew and greeting them with her giant smile.

She is survived by her husband, Shawn Light; children, Kyle (Caitlin) Light and Leigha (Michael) Steuart; grandchildren, Maverick, Everleigh, Bowen Light and Mason, Grayson, Harper Steuart; parents, Robert and Linda Campbell; mother and father-in-law- Thomas and Denise Light; siblings, Brian Campbell, Marsha (Scott) Moody, Karla (Waylon) Waymoth, and Gina Campbell; sister-in-law, Carrie (Luke) Verdeyen; nieces and nephews, Brian Jr. (Crystal), Katherine, Patricia, Michael (Dayna) Campbell, Mariska Mankle; Megan, Maxwell Moody; Clare, Lilly, Sam, Josie Waymoth; Andrew Campbell; Nick, Daisy, Gideon Verdeyen.

Valerie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence and Alma Tegeler, Louis and Mary Ann Kremer; aunts & uncles, Louis and Phyllis Vahling, Calvin Pontious, James Campbell, Lee Ann Campbell-Koeberlein and Frances Koeberlein.
