Yvonne L. "Bonnie" Huffman, born on April 21, 1933, was promoted to Heaven on January 15, 2022. She accepted Jesus the Christ as her Lord and Savior on October 7, 1970, at Bible Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL, and was obedient in baptism on November 9, 1970.

She was born in Effingham, IL, the youngest of 12 children born to Edith and Edward Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, her parents, her son, Ken Huffman, her husband of over 60 years, Frank E. Huffman Jr., her grandson, Clinton Del Huffman at age 17 (who passed over on the same date in 1999), and a two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Johnson in 1988.

Bonnie had 3 sons and 2 daughters, 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Her surviving children are Deborah Draper, Mike Huffman, Del Huffman, and Tammy Grant.

She was a wonderful mother and friend and a firm believer in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved life, singing, sewing, cooking, reading, flowers, and telling others about Jesus! She worked as an in-home care nurse for 40 years. Bonnie has many friends, including 2 special life-long friends Pat McWhorter and Beverly Bolsen. She always lit up the room, wherever she was! She often said: if you don’t have a 1611-KJV Bible, you need a Bible. She loved deeply, a lady of great faith, strong, sweet, beautiful, and always smiling! She was a soul-winner!

Bonnie fought cancer over 4 years. “Strength and beauty” “Blue denim and lace” “Strong as a lion, soft as a rose petal.”

Bonnie was rich in character, unstoppable, and was full of life! All who ever met her can never forget her. There was always love and healing in her touch and sweetness in her voice. Mother, wife, friend, and Christian. She is cherished, loved and will never be forgotten. Now, she is more alive than she ever was: eternal and at home with the Lord Jesus and all who are in Heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
