Erma Pearl Barbee, 72, of Louisville passed away at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home in rural Louisville.

Erma was born on November 13, 1949, in Olney, Illinois the daughter of Glenn Gladson and Mary Pearl (Harrell) Berthold. She was baptized and grew up in the Louisville Christian Church and then she married Victor Ray Barbee, at the Louisville Christian Church on June 1, 1968, and they shared 53 years of marriage. Erma spent over 50 years raising the youth of Clay County as a child care provider. Several of her daycare kids were second generation children. Erma loved the preschool age. She also taught preschool age children in Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville.

Erma is survived by her husband: Victor Ray Barbee, of Louisville, 3 children and their families: Darren (Julie) Barbee, of Louisville and their children: RaeAnne (Matthew) Modlin, of Evansville, Indiana, Lara (Mitch) Healy, of Louisville; Ryan (Brenda) Barbee, of Effingham; Chad (Lanie) Barbee, of Louisville and their children: Ananiah Barbee, of Louisville, and Isabella Barbee, of Louisville. She is also survived by a sister: Ola Mary (Jim) Enyart, of DeSoto, Illinois.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws: Jim and Margaret Barbee, and a sister-in-law: Sue Goebel.

Funeral services honoring the life of Erma will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville with Ron Payne and Brian Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Brush Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the church where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Law Enforcement/Emergency Responders walkthrough is at 6:00 p.m., and then on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Erma’s memory to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp. The McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville is entrusted with the care and arrangements.
