John Mark Klosterman, 72, of Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of Effingham, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

John was born on April 14, 1949 in Centralia, Illinois. He was the oldest son of the late Jack and Betty Kepner Klosterman. John grew up in Effingham, Illinois and graduated from Effingham High School in 1967 where he was a football standout. He attended the University of Illinois on a football scholarship. John married Patricia Heider in Peru, Illinois in 1974 and worked in industrial sales all of his life. He loved football, coaching, fishing and vacationing at the beaches with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Heider Klosterman; son, Andrew (Elizabeth) Klosterman of Beaufort, SC and daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Dent of Columbia, SC. Five grandchildren, Henry and Robert Klosterman, Grace, Sutton, and Jack Dent whom he loved so much and was so proud of. He is also survived by his brother, Steve (Robin) Klosterman of Effingham, Illinois and sisters, Kaye (Sid) Kibler of Effingham, Illinois and Julie (Larry) Garner of Mt Zion, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Jim (Delaine) Heider of Royston, GA; 8 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.
