Larry E. Koss (63) of Altamont

Larry E. Koss, 63, of Altamont, died at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the church and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements. It is strongly suggested that CDC guidelines with regard to Covid-19 be followed. This includes but is not limited to face masks and social distancing.

Larry was born on Saturday, March 22, 1958 in Vandalia, IL to George and Alice (Burrow) Koss. He married Joann Sporleder on May 5, 1979. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Larry worked at ADM for almost 42 years. He enjoyed woodworking projects, with his favorite being rocking horses for grandkid’s first birthdays.

In addition to his wife of over 42 years; he is survived by son, John (Shelley) Koss, Robinson; daughters, Pam (Jason) Buening, Teutopolis and Ashley (James) Yantis, Wiesbaden, Germany; sisters, Linda Sobottka, Boise, Idaho, Ruth Baucum, Vandalia, Mary (Joe) Roedl, Mason and Julie (Joe) Luchtefeld, Altamont; and eight grandchildren; Elijah and Hannah Yantis, Jacoby Koss, Jaxon Buening, Davalyn, Morgan and Abby York and Wyatt McCleave.

Larry was preceded in death by: his parents George and Alice Koss and brother-in-law, Bill Sobottka.
