Gerry Lee Weaver (76) Of Strasburg

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson with Rev. David J. Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 3 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg and also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery with military rites by Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church & School Endowment. Gerry was born August 30, 1945 in Decatur, the son of Charles A. and Chelsea J. (Rabbitt) Weaver. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.  Gerry earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Illinois State University. He was an accountant for many years. Gerry later attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a pastor for nine years, retiring from Trinity Lutheran Church in Manito, IL. He married Joyce A. Freitag June 19, 1971.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Rev. David Weaver (Kassie) of Stewardson; twin brother, Jerry Weaver (Elaine) of Oceanside, CA; sister, Joyce Ann Miller (Tom) of Phoenix, AZ; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Tabitha and Lydia Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
