Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday December 4, at the Casey United Methodist Church 703 N. Central Ave. Casey, IL. Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Albion Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made the Casey United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.
Ron was born September 8, 1932, in Abilene, TX to Edwin and Ethel (Andrus) Anderson. He married Phyllis Boyles in February of 1956 and she preceded him in 1966. After his wife passed away at the age of 32, he concentrated on raising his children and the running of 120 separate companies through the Triangle Oil Corporation in Mt. Carmel. Ron was recognized as Father of the Year, nurturing his children in academics, scouting, sports, music, dance, and cheerleading. He turned down job offers in New York City so that he could raise his children in his own hometown.
During the 1980’s and 90’s, he ran the City of Mt. Carmel, where he became heavily involved in Republican politics, both in Illinois and in Washington, DC. He stood side by side President Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions and attended Reagans’ second inauguration in 1985. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children Roger Anderson (Tammy) of Greenup, and Nancy Harrold (Dennis) of Danville, Imf/; grandchildren Samuel (Sunny) Harrold, Stephanie Harrold, Joseph (Jaelynn) Harrold, Margaret (Jake) Judd, Mac Harrold, Claire (Ryan) Pugh, Rachael (Cole) Mintert and Miriam (Cory) Stabler; eight great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eddie Duane Anderson.
