Ethel Elder, 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois died at 1:26 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2pm at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown with Rev. Jim Dann officiating.  Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, rural Brownstown.  Visitation will be for one hour before service time.

She was born August 8, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton E. and Gladys L. Swearinger Markham.  She married Rollie A Elder, Jr. and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1994.  She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Baptist church.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Mitchell and husband Floyd of Sumner...her brother, Clayton Markham of Spokane, Washington...several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents...sons, Rollie "Butch", Robert and Bill Markham...daughter, Sandra Kay Pitts...and sisters, Mary, Beverly and Loretta.
