John Dee Blade, 60, of Toledo, formerly of Greenup, passed away from complications related to Covid-19, at 2:45 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021, in IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Mt. Zion, “Block”, Church cemetery, rural Greenup, with Pastor Roger Songer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting with arrangements.

John was born at home in rural Greenup on September 27, 1961, to the late Olin and Rosemary “Mickey” (Marrs) Blade. After twelve years of dating, John and Colleen were Spiritually Committed in a marriage ceremony on August 15, 2015. John was well known as “The Computer Guy” as he worked at Computer Partners for years. More recently he was employed at Scott’s Building Center and Flooring Company where he dearly loved and enjoyed working with customers and colleagues. He was the “Go To” guy for many of their customers. John was an avid “Collector” and haunted many garage sales and flea markets! In his younger life, he took after his Grandad, John Blade, and was an avid bowler. Since the beginning, in 1999, of the Cumberland Pet Connection Charity of Toledo, John served as the Vice-President. John was a member of the Mt. Zion “Block” church where he served many years as Secretary.

He is survived by Colleen Zulueta; step-children Andrue (Jessica) Zulueta of Mahomet and Fallon Zulueta of Toledo; beloved brothers Robert (Alene) Blade and Ray (Janet) Blade both of Greenup; sisters-in-law Rebecca (Dennis) Jackson, Jo (Jody Ray) Allen and niece Ryann Allen of Indiana; nephews Edward (Marnie) Blade, Toledo, and Grant (Kelly) Cox, Montrose; great nephews Mitchell Blade, Braydon, Corbin and Cale Cox; and great nieces Ashley (Riley) Smith and Taylor (Sawyer) Elliott.

John has now joined his beloved Cocker Spaniel “Emily”.
