Frankie Juanita (Fitzgerald) Shirley, 95, of Effingham passed away peacefully at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Effingham.
She was born on December 1, 1925, in Effingham County, Illinois, the daughter of Ed and Julia “Bachs” Fitzgerald. She married Clifford G. Shirley on December 20, 1945 in the home of her step-parents Harlan and Frankie Brentlinger in Hord. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 31, 2002. Frankie was a homemaker. Her biggest loves and joy was taking care of her children and family.
Frankie is survived by her children George (Kathy) Shirley of Dieterich; Gail (Robert) Leturno of Effingham; and Allen Dale Shirley of Altamont. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren and 7 Great-great grandchildren.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Twila Rose, son Kelly Ray Shirley, one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services honoring the life of Frankie will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville with Jeff Michael officiating. Following the service, her body will be cremated and the cremated remains will be buried at Old Union Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.
